Paulie Rojas was born Ana Paula Rojas
in Mexico City. She spent her childhood in Mexico City and Los Angeles,
speaking both English and Spanish as her native tongues. Paulie is the heir to one of Mexican cinema’s greatest acting dynasties: her grandfather was the legendary leading man Roberto Caňedo, one of the most prolific and renowned actors in the history of Mexican cinema. From her earliest years, Paulie Rojas knew that she wanted to be an actress. Determined to carry on the legacy of her grandfather, Paulie enrolled in the University of Southern California School of Theatre’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program. While at USC, Paulie appeared in numerous theatrical productions. A highly trained dancer, she also performed with the USC Repertory Dance Company. Paulie graduated from USC in May 2007 with a BFA in Acting. Prior to graduation, Paulie
received the highest honor given to a graduating member of the School
of Theatre: she was awarded the Ava Greenwald Memorial Award, an award
presented annually to the most outstanding undergraduate actor, as
selected by a professional panel of judges (2007’s judges included actor
Joe Mantegna, and April Webster, casting director for such shows as
“Lost,” “Criminal Minds,” “CSI,” and “Alias”). Paulie was profiled in the Beverly Hills Canyon News (“Paulie Rojas: Young Star on the Rise”). In the article, entertainment editor Michael St. John wrote, “Paulie Rojas is an actress to be reckoned with…This young, beautiful, talented Latina ingénue is rapidly taking Hollywood by storm.” Apart from her work in motion pictures and on TV, Paulie
has extensive stage experience, appearing in the Los Angeles Women’s
Shakespeare Company’s production of “Merchant of Venice” (along with her
numerous productions at the USC School of Theatre). Paulie
co-produced and portrayed the title role in "Lucia No Besa A
Nadie/Lucia Kisses No One." The film is written in Spanish and with
English subtitles. "Lucia" It's a spellbinding, grating look about the
seemingly chance
encounter between a beautiful young woman, Lucia, and wealthy business
man, Rafa Calderon. At closer glance, it's a story about the latent
effects of child abuse in adults and the tragedy of innocence taken away
too early. Writer and co-producer Emanuel Gironi along with Paulie have submitted this piece to festivals and garnered many awards. This August, Paulie
won the coveted Best Actress Award at the Hollyshorts Film Festival in Hollywood, CA which featured such actors as David Arquette, Dick
Van Dyke, James Franco, Bryce Dallas
Howard, Mena Suvari, Kirsten Dunst, Kate Bosworth, Zoe Saldana, Don Cheadle, Will Ferrel, and Zooey
Deschanel to name a few. Paulie
has just completed the role of Dorothy Gale in Leigh Scott's "The
Witches of Oz 3D." She co-stars with Christopher Lloyd as the wizard.
Lance Henriksen, Billy Boyd, Sean Astin, Ethan Embry, and Mia Sara are
also among her co-stars. Paulie
is fluent in French, is a classically trained Ballerina, has a
black-belt in Tae Kwon Do, has dual citizenship (USA/MEX) and has been
studying classical piano since the age of 4. Paulie is represented by CESD Talent Agency and Schumacher Management.
